Royal Enfield Classic 650, scrambler spotted testing again

Royal Enfield, apart from working on its new 450cc platform, is also working toward expanding its 650cc platform and to that end, the Classic 650 and the upcoming 650cc scrambler were spotted testing together on our Indian roads.

  1. Both have a neutral rider’s triangle
  2. Both get wire-spoked wheels, but of different sizes

Royal Enfield Classic 650, 650cc scrambler: details

The Classic 650 gets a familiar and charming retro design, similar to its smaller counterpart, the hugely popular Classic 350. With its mid set footpegs and upright handlebar, the Classic 650’s rider triangle should be quite comfortable. The bigger Classic seems to share its chassis and some componentry with the Super Meteor 650.

On the other hand, the 650cc scrambler features an off-road inspired design, while being powered by the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine. While both models get twin shock absorbers, the 650cc scrambler features a USD fork and not a telescopic fork. With the scrambler featuring a two-into-one exhaust system unlike other models in the lineup, it could quite possibly be one of the lighter models, since the big mufflers on other 650s weigh a fair bit.

Expect to see the same 47hp and 52Nm being dished out by the charming 648cc, parallel-twin mill here, although the tuning could be unique to each bike.

Both these bikes have been spotted testing numerous times before but, as of the publishing of this story, there has been no official confirmation regarding the launch of either bike. However, it is safe to say that we can expect to see at least one new 650cc offering from Royal Enfield in the near future.
