Both electric SUVs contributed significantly to the monthly performance, together accounting for the vast majority of BYD’s total dispatches. While the Sealion 7 secured the top position by a small margin, the Atto 3 registered a stronger percentage growth rate. In comparison, the eMax 7 witnessed a decline in volumes, whereas the Seal posted a slight improvement over its previous-year performance.

Sealion 7 Finishes September as BYD’s Best-Selling Model
The Sealion 7 emerged as BYD’s highest-volume model in September 2026, recording 530 units compared with 216 units in September 2025. This resulted in a year-on-year increase of 145.4%, with the model adding 314 units to its previous-year tally.
Accounting for 46.6% of the company’s monthly dispatches, the Sealion 7 remained the biggest individual contributor to BYD’s overall volumes. Its position at the top, however, was closely contested by the Atto 3, with the difference between the two models standing at only 11 units.
The SUV’s performance also highlights its importance to BYD’s overall growth, as it delivered a substantial share of the additional units dispatched during the month.
Atto 3 Records the Highest Growth Rate Among BYD Models
The Atto 3 came a close second, with dispatches increasing to 519 units in September 2026 from 199 units in the year-ago period. The resulting 160.8% growth was the highest among the four models in BYD’s line-up.
In absolute terms, the Atto 3 added 320 units year-on-year, marginally more than the Sealion 7’s increase of 314 units. It represented 45.6% of the brand’s total dispatches, putting it almost on par with the leading model.
Combined, the Sealion 7 and Atto 3 accounted for 1,049 units during September 2026, compared with 415 units in September 2025. Their year-on-year addition of 634 units was greater than BYD’s overall volume increase of 624 units. The difference was due to the decline recorded by the eMax 7, which partially offset the gains made by the two SUVs.
eMax 7 Sees a Year-on-Year Reduction in Dispatches
Unlike the brand’s two leading models, the eMax 7 experienced a drop in dispatch volumes during September 2026. The model recorded 76 units, down from 88 units in September 2025, representing a decline of 13.6%.
The reduction amounted to 12 units compared with the corresponding month last year. With a share of approximately 6.7% of BYD’s monthly dispatches, the eMax 7 was the only model in the company’s portfolio to report negative year-on-year growth during the period.
Its lower volumes partially counterbalanced the substantial gains generated by the Sealion 7 and Atto 3, although BYD still managed to more than double its overall dispatches.
BYD Seal Posts Modest Growth on a Low Base
The BYD Seal recorded 12 units in September 2026, compared with 10 units in the corresponding month of the previous year. This represented a 20% year-on-year increase, equivalent to just two additional units.
Despite the positive growth rate, the sedan continued to account for a relatively small proportion of BYD’s monthly volumes, contributing around 1.1% of total dispatches.
BYD’s September Performance: Key Takeaways
BYD’s September 2026 dispatch figures were largely driven by the Sealion 7 and Atto 3, with both models delivering strong year-on-year growth and together accounting for more than 92% of the company’s monthly volumes.
Although the Sealion 7 retained the top spot, the Atto 3 recorded the higher growth rate and contributed slightly more additional units over the previous year. The eMax 7’s contraction and the Seal’s limited volume increase had a comparatively small impact on the overall result.
With total dispatches rising from 513 to 1,137 units, BYD closed September 2026 with a 121.6% year-on-year increase, supported primarily by the strong performance of its two leading electric SUVs.
