Maruti Suzuki is preparing to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with a model that could bring something different to India’s growing EV market. Known internally by the codename YMC, the upcoming electric vehicle is expected to be a three-row MPV rather than another conventional five-seat SUV.
The model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads, indicating that development is progressing. While Maruti Suzuki has not officially revealed the production version, reports suggest that the new EV could be unveiled towards the end of 2026 before reaching dealerships in early 2027.
The YMC is expected to combine Maruti Suzuki’s experience with family-oriented vehicles such as the Ertiga, XL6 and Invicto with technology derived from the company’s new electric platform.
A New Direction for Maruti’s EV Line-up
