Bajaj Chetak Surpasses 50,000 Customers in Kerala as EV Network Reaches 103 Touchpoints

Bajaj Chetak has achieved another important milestone in its electric mobility journey, with the brand now serving over 50,000 customers in Kerala. To support its growing user base, the company has also expanded its presence across the state to 103 sales and service touchpoints.

The achievement reflects Chetak’s growing acceptance in Kerala and highlights the increasing importance of the state in India’s rapidly expanding electric two-wheeler market. Beyond major metropolitan EV hubs, the brand is now strengthening its reach across regional markets by focusing on both product availability and after-sales support.

Expanding Access Across Kerala

With 103 touchpoints now operational, Bajaj is working towards making the Chetak more accessible to customers across Kerala. The expanding network is expected to improve access to test rides, vehicle purchases, deliveries and servicing.

For EV buyers, a strong physical network can play an important role in the ownership decision. While factors such as price, features, battery capacity and range may influence the initial purchase, easy access to authorised service centres and trained technicians can provide greater confidence over the long term.

Crossing the 50,000-customer mark in Kerala therefore reflects more than just rising scooter sales. It also points towards the gradual development of a stronger and more mature electric two-wheeler ecosystem within the state.

The Kerala expansion is part of Bajaj Auto’s wider strategy to grow the Chetak network across India. By July 2026, the company had expanded the brand’s presence to more than 530 exclusive stores and approximately 4,500 customer touchpoints across over 850 cities nationwide.

Chetak’s Growth Story Continues Nationwide

The strong performance in Kerala comes during a period of rapid growth for Chetak across the Indian market.

According to Bajaj Auto’s FY2026 annual report, the Chetak recorded 3,02,674 domestic sales in FY2026, up from 2,60,033 units in FY2025. Total cumulative Chetak sales had also moved beyond the 7 lakh-unit milestone by the end of FY2026.

The company also reported a 20.7% share of India’s electric scooter market, highlighting Chetak’s growing role in the highly competitive EV segment.

The momentum has continued into the current financial year.

As per AutoPunditz model-wise dispatch figures, Bajaj Chetak registered dispatches of 47,184 units in July 2026, compared to 11,584 units during July 2025. This represented a substantial 307% year-on-year growth. The July figure was also around 17% higher than the 40,376 units recorded in June 2026.

The strong volumes helped Chetak emerge as Bajaj Auto’s highest-volume model for July, ahead of several popular Pulsar motorcycle models.

Why Kerala Is an Important EV Market

Kerala offers significant potential for electric two-wheelers due to its densely populated urban regions, closely connected towns and regular short-distance commuting patterns.

However, building a successful presence in the state requires more than focusing on major cities such as Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. Customers across smaller towns and regional centres also require convenient access to dealerships and reliable service infrastructure.

This makes Chetak’s 103-touchpoint network particularly significant. A wider presence could help Bajaj serve customers beyond the state’s largest cities while improving convenience for existing owners.

Instead of depending only on large experience centres in key urban locations, Bajaj appears to be leveraging its broader distribution capabilities to take the Chetak brand deeper into regional markets.

A Wider Chetak Range Supports Growth

Bajaj has also continued to expand the Chetak lineup to cater to customers across different price points and usage requirements.

The current portfolio includes scooters from the C35 and C30 families, while the more affordable C25 range has further broadened the brand’s appeal. The C35 and C30 naming broadly corresponds to the scooters’ 3.5kWh and 3kWh battery configurations, respectively.

A broader product portfolio gives Bajaj the flexibility to target different sections of the electric scooter market while continuing to build on the Chetak’s established metal-bodied design and premium positioning.

Service Network Could Become a Major Strength

India’s electric scooter market is becoming increasingly competitive. In its early stages, the segment was largely driven by specifications, claimed range and pricing. As more customers enter the EV market, however, the focus is gradually shifting towards the overall ownership experience.

Factors such as vehicle reliability, service availability, financing options, resale value and customer support are likely to become increasingly important in influencing purchase decisions.

This could work in favour of established two-wheeler manufacturers with strong experience in distribution and after-sales operations.

Bajaj Auto has already increased Chetak’s nationwide network from over 4,000 touchpoints at the end of FY2026 to around 4,500 touchpoints by July 2026, demonstrating the speed of its expansion.

Kerala’s 103 touchpoints form an important part of this larger strategy. As Chetak continues to grow across India, expanding its physical presence could become just as important as introducing new products.

With more than 50,000 customers already on the road in Kerala, Bajaj Chetak appears to have established a strong foundation in one of India’s promising electric two-wheeler markets. The next phase of growth will likely depend on how effectively the company continues to strengthen its product range, ownership experience and service reach as competition in the EV space continues to intensify.
