Kia India has officially unveiled the India-spec Kia Sorento and begun local production of the upcoming premium three-row SUV. The first India-made Sorento rolled off the assembly line at Kia’s Anantapur plant on August 20, 2026, marking an important milestone ahead of its scheduled price announcement on September 4.
Set to become the flagship model in Kia India’s internal-combustion SUV range, the Sorento will further expand the brand’s presence beyond the popular Sonet and Seltos segments. Kia has also confirmed some key details ahead of the launch, including the availability of hybrid and diesel powertrains, along with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Pre-bookings for the premium SUV are already open.
Kia Sorento Local Production Begins in Anantapur
The commencement of Sorento production at Kia India’s Anantapur manufacturing facility suggests that the company is gearing up for customer deliveries shortly after the official price reveal.
The new SUV will also mark an important first for the brand, as it is set to become Kia’s first hybrid offering in India. Alongside the hybrid version, Kia will offer a diesel powertrain, giving buyers the choice between an electrified option and a more traditional engine suited to long-distance travel.
Local manufacturing could play a key role in determining the Sorento’s final pricing. Although Kia has not announced official prices yet, the premium three-row SUV is currently expected to be positioned in the ₹30 lakh to ₹40 lakh range.

The India-spec Kia Sorento follows the brand’s latest SUV design philosophy while incorporating several styling elements that give it a strong road presence.
At the front, the SUV gets a distinctive lighting setup featuring four projector units, along with a large grille finished with chrome detailing. The lower section houses slim LED fog lamps, while contrasting skid plates and air curtains contribute to the Sorento’s rugged appearance.
From the side, the premium SUV features dual-tone alloy wheels, black roof rails and brushed aluminium-style trim running from the front fenders towards the doors. Chrome detailing around the window line and lower body further enhances its upscale look.
