Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO Arrives in India at ₹3.80 Crore With Enhanced Off-Road Hardware

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its high-performance SUV portfolio in India with the introduction of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO, priced at ₹3.80 crore (ex-showroom). The new variant was announced on September 23, 2026, bringing together the G 63’s familiar V8 performance with additional equipment designed specifically for off-road driving.

The new version gets specialised suspension technology, dedicated off-road driving functions, a roof-mounted luggage system and a distinctive set of 20-inch wheels. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that only a limited number of units will be allocated to India, although the company has not specified the exact number or delivery timeline.

More Focus on Off-Road Capability

The biggest changes on the Offroad PRO are centred around its suspension and traction systems.

The SUV comes equipped with AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL, which combines adaptive damping with active hydraulic roll stabilisation. According to Mercedes-Benz, the system is designed to allow greater axle articulation over uneven surfaces while maintaining control over body movements.

The system is supported by two dedicated off-road functions that allow the driver to adjust the SUV’s behaviour depending on the terrain.

AMG Active Balance Control

The AMG Active Balance Control system offers three levels of roll-stiffness adjustment across the SUV’s off-road drive programmes.

This allows the suspension characteristics to be altered depending on the conditions instead of relying on one fixed setup.

AMG Traction PRO

The AMG Traction PRO function operates in the Rock and Sand driving programmes. It manages braking torque at individual wheels and provides seven selectable locking levels.

Mercedes-Benz says the system can help the SUV regain traction when it becomes stuck, including in deep sand. Actual capability, however, will depend on factors such as terrain conditions, tyres and driver inputs.

Roof Rack and New Wheel Design Add to the Rugged Package

The Offroad PRO also receives hardware designed to make it more suitable for carrying equipment during off-road trips.

A PROFESSIONAL roof luggage rack features continuous aluminium panels and a removable ladder at the rear. The SUV also gets matte-black 20-inch AMG wheels with a diamond-turned rim flange.

These wheels are wrapped in 275/50 R20 tyres.

The combination of the roof system, wheels and additional off-road technology gives the special variant a more rugged character while adding functional equipment to the G 63 package.

Twin-Turbo V8 Retains Its Performance Focus

Despite the additional focus on rough-terrain driving, the Offroad PRO remains a high-performance AMG SUV.

It is powered by a hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that produces 850Nm of peak torque. The India-spec release quotes an output of 430kW, or 585hp.

The engine is supported by a 48V mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter-generator, which can provide up to 15kW of additional electric assistance, particularly at lower engine speeds.

The electric assistance is specified separately from the engine’s rated output and should not be interpreted as a continuously available combined output figure.

Mercedes-Benz claims a 0–100km/h time of 4.4 seconds, while the SUV’s maximum speed is electronically restricted to 240km/h.

This means the Offroad PRO combines the performance expected from the G 63 with additional systems aimed at improving its behaviour away from paved roads.

Premium Interior With Dedicated Off-Road Information

Inside, the G 63 Offroad PRO continues with a luxury-focused cabin. Equipment includes Nappa leather upholstery, configurable ambient lighting and the MBUX NTG7 infotainment system.

The dashboard features 12.3-inch displays for both the driver and multimedia system, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Augmented-reality navigation is also part of the equipment list.

Mercedes-Benz has added an off-road cockpit display that provides information including:

  • Vehicle position
  • Steering angle
  • Altitude
  • Tyre pressure
  • Differential-lock status

The SUV also gets a selectable Transparent Hood camera, which allows the driver to view the terrain directly ahead and assess obstacles that may otherwise be hidden from the driver’s position.

High-End Audio and Safety Equipment

The equipment list extends beyond the off-road technology and includes several premium and driver-assistance features.

The G 63 Offroad PRO comes with an 18-speaker, 760W Burmester 3D surround-sound system, along with acoustic glass and a 360-degree camera.

Safety and assistance systems listed for the SUV include Active Brake Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.

A More Specialised G 63 for India

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad PRO adds a more specialised off-road focus to the G 63 formula without moving away from its high-performance character.

At ₹3.80 crore, the new variant combines the G-Class’s V8 powertrain with additional suspension, traction, exterior utility equipment and dedicated off-road displays. Mercedes-Benz has confirmed a limited allocation for India, with the exact number of units and delivery schedule yet to be announced.
